cannot upload today's run to garmin connect with garmin express

Garmin express keeps giving me an error while syncing. Says I don't have an ant stick.

I have a forerunner 305 but I don't even know what an ant stick is. Device software is up to date.

I tried going to garmin connect and forcing an upload but I cannot sign it. It doesn't recognize me. Wants me to create a new account.

What happened to all my data? How do I upload my run? Why does garmin connect not know me??

After another hour of trying, I finally got my activity to upload.

Yes, all my software was up to date.

SO what is an ant stick and why is garmin express looking for one???

When I tried to log in, it would finally bring up a page telling me to create an account. It never said , I couldn't log it, it never said wrong info or no such member, it would take several minutes then tell me to create an account with no link to log in.

There was nothing wrong with my password.
