How to use SDcard on nuvi 2597 ?

Hello,

I tried to add a microSDHC 4 (8gb formated in FAT32) on my new nuvi 2597, but in Garmin Express, the sdcard does not appearred.
It always says my internal storgage in at 91% full and to purchase a memory card.
I tried too with a microSD (1gb formated in FAT32) and it's the same, no trace of the sd inserted in Garmin Express.
But when I connect the nuvi on the PC, the two spaces (internal and sdcard) are mounted, so it seems the cards are recognized.

Is there special instructions to have the sdcard available ?
I have only 600 Mb free in the internal storage, i'll afraid about the next updates.

Thanks for the help.
Best regards.
  • 600Mb will be ample for the time being unless you're planning on adding additional maps. Express doesn't report on space on the sd card (I think it should though so hope that will change in the future) so the fact is not 'seeing' the sd card is perfectly normal.

Express will only use the SD card if the map update will not fit on the internal space of the device. If a map update is performed and there is still room to hold all the updated files the update will be stored on the device. If the map update is performed and the Express determines that the internal space will not be sufficient to fit all the new files it will then look to either have the user select a smaller region of mapping that will fit or to add a SD/MicroSD card to the device. Once the card is detected at that point Express will load the mapping to the card.
