CN NTU not updating

nuvi 2595LM, city navigator NTU 2013.3 (EU)
im usually notified of a map update with an email and when i connect to the laptop, but im running 2013.3, i understand the latest version is 2014.? and another update is coming out soon so where is mine?
im getting out of date map messages on the unit when i turn it on

Express is loading the update correctly. It's telling you there isn't enough space.

You could of course always select a smaller region. I have the full EU mapset for my 2508 but I only download Western Europe to my device, and the full map to my PC for Basecamp to use. I can't imagine me needing the full EU mapset on my 2508, but if I ever do need extra coverage it's there in Basecamp to be loaded.

The terms and conditions http://www.garmin.com/en-GB/legal/lmdisclaimer for lifetime updates explain that you may at some point need a sd card due to the increasing size of the maps, junction view files etc. The relevant part from that is:

In some instances, your Garmin product might not have sufficient memory remaining for you to load an update to the map data, in which case you will need to either (a) select reduced map data coverage for your updates, or (b) purchase separately a microSD™/SD™ card (if and as applicable to your Garmin product) and load all or a portion of the map data coverage for your updates to the card and insert the card into the microSD/SD card slot contained in your Garmin product.

it would fit fine if an update did what you say it does and i think it should do, and deleted the old before loading the new, because i think 3.7GB should fit in the 4GB available memory on my unit?

okay so i put a mini SD card in it, which now means i have to buy another one for my phone :mad:
anyways, maps are now up to date, but its annoying now because the basemap and detailed maps are on seperate drives
A/ "WORLDWIDE AUTOROUTE DEM BASEMAP NR" which has never shown up before always loads by default in basecamp, from the nuvi. that has never ever appeared anywhere before, basecamp has always just shown GLOBAL MAP
B/ CITY NAVIGATOR takes forever to load pages when you move the pointer, because its reading from a card perhaps?
its just so slow now, one step forward and two back. all i wanted was some up to date maps :(

DEM isn't really a map but the Digital Elevation Model which provides elevation detail. Your GPS shouldn't be slow just because the map is on the card. I've seen no performance issue with maps on cards.
