Nuvi 2569 won't update - please help

I bought a brand new Nuvi 2569 about two hours ago. A warning pops up telling me to update.

I download Garmin Express, connect fine, and then nothing happens.

I come on this forum, un-install GE and download Updater.

That works fine, tells me I have lifetime maps available - then tells me I can't download because I am lacking "a previous file". Updater then closes suddenly.

So I've run GE again, and it just sits there telling me I've got 6 updates but won't update them.

Help please? Or shall I just throw it in the bin and buy a TomTom?
  • Didn't realise there was a 2569 until this post, and see it appears to be a special sold by certain UK retailers. Not sure whether this has any impact or not.

    Try the following, and if no luck I'd take it back to the retailer and ask for a replacement

    Run Express and ensure it's up to date. To do that click on the gear icon top right then select check for application updates.

    Once you're sure it's up to date, and without the nuvi connected to your PC, delete it from Express and reassociate it ... for how to do this see here

    Now Express should check for updates and download them for you.
