Garmin Express failing to install on Vista

Former Member
Former Member
Garmin Express will not install on my Vista Pc. My Windows Updater is current.

I am also unable to delete the multiple GarminExpressInstaller.exe files that have collected in my Downloads Folder. The message "Destination Folder Access Denied" continues to pop up.

Garmin Express appears in my "Uninstall or change a program" page, it DOES NOT appear in my Programs. It can not be Un-installed!

Please advise,
Robin

problem with vista and garmin express

This is exactly the issue I am experiencing. I've tried deleting all components of Garmin Express using Revo Uninstaller before re-installing and also separately (and successfully) installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable x86 2013 which is the point in the Garmin Express install where it will go no further. I am now out of options.....

Have the same problem... can I return to the old ant? it is clear that GARMIN is not working for old programs as Vista...

I finally got it to install! The thing that worked for me was searching for and uninstalling all OLD Microsoft.Net Framework programs, leaving just version 4.5.1
    Hope this helps.
  • Same problem here on Windows 7, it worked fine on W8 before and even in 2k3.

Come on Garmin support team, any clues?
  • Please follow these instructions to resolve most of these issues with the update stalling on "Installing VisualCppRedistributablex86" in Windows Vista:

    • Allow the installation to sit on the Installing VisualCppRedistrubutablex86 step for at least 2 minutes
    • Open Task Manager
    • Click the Processes tab
    • Show processes for all users
    • There will be multiple instances of vcredist_x86.exe
    • Choose the smallest one (the one that uses the least memory)
    • Click End Process

If the installation is actually failing with a "Failed. Try again?" prompt during the "Installing VisualCppRedistributablex86" stage in Windows Vista/7/8, it is most likely caused by a recent Windows security update. Please view the following FAQ for more information:

Why does my Garmin application fail to install when Windows update KB2918614 is present on my computer?

    Jason,

No luck after removing the security update. It still fails at the VisualCpp stage and it does give me the Failed try again option. Any other advice?
