Firmware download fails in Garmin Express software

I just purchased a Nuvi 2557LMT and I am trying to download the updates and they always fail. The issue seems to be with downloading the firmware 4.40 update and the only error message I see is "Download Error". It appears that other updates depend on this firmware update so they in turn fail as well. I have been able to download and install a few other updates but there a number of other updates that are being held up by this. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Try deleting the device and re adding it back to Garmin Express. If this still doesn't work you may want to perform the firmware update using WebUpdater. Once the firmware is updated delete the device from Express one more time and re add it back. This should update the communication with the device and Express. The firmware should now show up to date and you should be able to move on to the map download portion.

    Thanks, This worked for the firmware update as well as at least 6 other updates. However, there is a map update that still will not download and install.

    The map I am having issues with is "Full Coverage of North America 2015.10" . When the install starts it quickly jumps to 55% complete and then it errors out.
  • Did your device come with that map or is this an additional map you're trying to install?

    This is a map that Garmin Express shows as needing to be installed/updated. And yes, I have made sure I am running the latest version of Express and went through the process of deleting and re-associating the device.

  • One thing you can try is forcing access to allow the Garmin Core Services to be allowed through to the internet.

    1. Press the Windows key+R
    2. Type "services.msc" and press Enter
    3. Locate and right-click Garmin Core Update Service
    4. Click Properties
    5. Click on Log On tab
    6. Select This account
    7. Type "Network Service" in the Account field
    8. Remove all text from both password fields
    9. Click Apply, then click OK on the next three prompts
    10. Right-click Garmin Core Update Service and Click Stop
    11. Right-click Garmin Core Update Service and Click Start
