Express won't install on XP. It keeps coming up with "Failed Try Again" or "Exit" as choices. I've uninstalled the previous version. How do I get my map updates?
Having said that, I am up-to-date with both of these, yet Garmin Express 3.2.7.0 still fails to install on my XP Home edition. About 2/3 of the way along the progress bar it pauses for a long time and then comes up with the message box:
Service 'Garmin Core Update Service' (Garmin Core Update Service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
I am logged in as the System Administrator and all the other apps installed on my PC seems able to start their resource hogging services without a problem.
I am waiting somewhat impatiently for Garmin to sort this out so that I can update my maps and stop my nuvi telling me to turn into urban streets that have now been designated as traffic free.
Are you using XP Professional or XP Home?
Apparently Garmin Express 3.2.7.0 install requires the following to be on your machine:
Microsoft Installer 4.5. See http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8483
Microsoft .NET framework 4.0.3. See https://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/case.faces?caseId={c9ab5190-3cd7-11e3-f27b-000000000000}
