Garmin Express PC and Forerunner 305

I have installed the latest version of Garmin Express on my Windows 8.1 PC and I am having issues syncing activities from my Forerunner 305 to Garmin Connect. The application detects the device, and then starts spinning shortly afterwards when syncing. The applications does nothing shortly after that.

Any ideas? I am running version 3.2.8.

I'm seeing the same behavior (Forerunner 305, Win7 PC, version 3.2.7.0 (although the GUI says Version 2.90 and that ""Your device software is up to date")). I was last able to sync on 6/23; I've been getting that behavior ever since.

Several times since then, I've been seeing the following information in the daily updater log file (C:\ProgramData\GARMIN\Logs\GarminSelfUpdater_[2014-mm-dddd].txt):
