Garmin Express won't automatically sync

The only way I can get Garmin Express to sync is to delete the device (310XT) from Garmin Express and then re-add it.

This is incredibly frustrating having to remove and re-add the device every time I want to sync it

It sounds like you could have some files left over from the ANT Agent.

Assuming you have only one fitness ANT device. Use these instructions to clean out the computer.

For Windows Vista, 7, and 8:

    • Press the Windows + R key
    • Type %Programdata% and click OK
    • Open the Garmin folder
    • Open the Core Update Service folder
    • Open the Sync folder
    • Delete the contents of the Sync folder

In the Garmin folder above there is also a LegacyProxy folder. Delete the contents of that as well.

    2nd Location:

    • Press the Windows + R key
    • Type %appdata% and click OK
    • Open the Garmin folder
    • Open the Devices folder
    • Delete the contents of the Devices folder

Once these folders have been cleaned out pair the 310XT to Express again and see if it says put. A last resort would be to Master Reset the 310XT:

How do I master reset my Forerunner 310XT?

  • I've done that we'll see if it works...early indications aren't promising as it refuses to send a course from Garmin Connect to the watch, so I'll have to run the weekends race without the course being pre-loaded as I haven't the time or inclination to completely reset the watch.

I find it amazing that this software is somehow better than the old one, from my experience so far it certainly doesn't seem it.
  • And what a suprise it doesn't work, so the only viable way to sync my Garmin with Garmin express is to delete and re-pair it every time. Garmin this is absolutely stupid and a huge step backwards:mad:

If you followed the steps that Curt provided you by resetting the device and clearing out Sync & LegacyProxy folders and your issue has not yet been corrected I would recommend you contact support directly. There may be additional issues that need to be addressed and it would be easier on a 1 on 1 scenario.
