Garmin express map update failure

I have a Garmin Nuvi 205. I received an email telling me a new map (for which I have already subscribed) is available (V3.2.7.0). I followed the instructions (I think) correctly. I can see DotNet 403 being installed and then 'Garmin Express' flashes up on the screen and I get a message 'failed - try again' which I have now tried three times.

What do I need to do to complete the update successfully? Could you please let me have a step-by-step idiots guide?

v3.2.7 is not a map, it's an update to Express. Are you using XP? If so note that you need to update Windows Installer http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8483

The email I received did not make clear that the update was for Garmin Express.

I have now installed the update to Windows updater. However, on running Garmin Express the whole thing freeze with a panel saying "Device found ... Not the right device? try again [have done with same result] ANT + device not showing up? ANT + help".

What to do now please?

Garmin Express is unable to see the Nuvi connected to the computer. Please see the FAQ: Why is my Garmin mass storage or MTP device not communicating with Garmin Applications?

I don't know why the computer was not communicating with the Garmin device -it was plugged in. If almost by magic, the following day it worked OK and I now have an up-to-date Garmin Express and maps.

Magic doesn't happen very often, I suspect the switch off switch on resolved the issue with your PC.

Either way glad it's sorted, I'll now close this thread.
