i installed Windows Installer Service 4.5 and my system started to install. After about 5 minutes the following message appeared 'Garmin Core Update Service Failed to Start'. I intend returning this product to the store unless I can install and register, so need to do this quickly. Thank you
on Windows XP, so have now downloaded Windows Installer Service 4.5 as previously suggested. now get the message 'Garmin Core Update Service failed to start' Really need to know whether my PC will accept this device.
I am sorry for the troubles. There are two issues that can effect Windows XP users during installation of Garmin Express. Since you have already done the Microsoft Windows Installer update the next thing to check would be the Microsoft .NET Framework, of which the Core Update Service realize on to Start.
Microsoft makes a .NET Framework Fix it Utility that you can run to update their software.
Since Microsoft has discontinued support of Windows XP, Garmin has updated the installation packages current software applications. These new install packages might cause some installation errors on older Windows XP machines that are not fully updated. Future versions of Garmin Express will not be compatible with Windows XP, so the GPS can be registered and updated from a friend or family member's Windows Vista, 7, or 8 computer if you have the option.
