I have downloaded Garmin Express and a installed it on my laptop (windows 7 home premium) the icon is on my desktop but when i attempt to open the logo appears then i get a message Garmin Express can't open Internet connection is being blocked . Try disabling you fire wall and proxy settings and open garmin express again. I have tried this turning of windows fire wall as well a my anti virus soft ware, even tried uninstalling the AV but still get the same message
  • See if the steps here work https://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/case.faces?caseId={dd8e8b20-ef1e-11e2-7dd9-000000000000}
  • Are you trying over WiFi? If so are you able to cable to your router?

    Same issue even after turning off fire wall and Garmin Core Update Service on.
    Apparently some thing goes wrong either in last Garmin Express update or on Gramin server side...
  • Mine worked perfectly well from the getgo and still does. Are you saying your Core Update Service was off?

    Try uninstalling Express then redownload the exe file to your PC, right click the file and select 'Run as administrator'. Are you still then being blocked?

    All services are running, tried stopping and restarting. Tried with and without firewall/antivirus. Tried uninstalling, downloading and re-installing program. There are no proxy's. All I do know is it has to do with my computer. I installed the same program on my wife's computer and it works fine. there shouldn't be a difference because both desktops are HP on the same hardwired network. I checked everything in my network settings I can think of. I am at a loss as to the issue. My TomTom works fine.
  • I have exactly the same issue on Windows 8.1 PC. This is the third PC I've tried Express on, I wanted to update maps but have had to cancel order. Will try your suggestions but pretty useless on Garmins part
  • Well it's something to do with your PC somewhere as the poster above you states. Not sure why you feel Garmin is to blame for that?

    Hopefully the suggestions above do work for you.

    Maybe a USB issue on yours, you could try the steps here and see if that helps http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/usb-drive-or-flash-problems-how-to-cleanup-and-remove-old-usb-storage-drivers.145884/

    In most cases the guilt could be a firewall, but often it's the anti-virus program (with integrated internetprotection) and it could be the one from any large or small anti virus corporation which causes the problem.

    If the core service or express program is blocked by some security program and you clicked on the choice a protection program is asking you (or does not ask anything) read it wrong, click a choice and it's blocked and in most cases very difficult to find how to unblock it. For me I remove the anti-virus program completely and try again.

    In the mean time don't put strange usb sticks in your computer, don't open spam mail and don't click on the links in the mails and don't browse to wrong sites.
