Garmin reports different Unit ID for Montana 650

I have used my Montana 650 for several years.
Suddenly I get an error message when switching on the device: “Cant unlock maps”.
The map this error refers to is the GARMAP SA TOPO 2011.3

After much trying and reinstalling I discover the following:
Basecamp and Garmin Express report my unit ID to be 4294967295.
However when I log in to MyGarmin / Support tab and enter the serial number of the device, I get a total different Unit id: 3836850990.

How is this possible? How can this be fixed and my maps be unlocked for use again?

No idea but one of the Express team should be able to help.

Remove and add the device to Garmin Express again and it should report the Serial 2JP001307 and the correct Unit ID. Unfortunately you would have to contact GARMAP SA as Garmin US has no access to their unlock system.
