Garmin express re-pair on every launch

Former Member

morning

Garmin express used to transfer data as soon as I launched it. Now, everytime before I can transfer data, I have to pair up my device again. this is very frustrating as sometimes it won't see the ant stick and I sit here re-doing it over and over to get it to work.
Nothin has changed from my side...
Please help
Thanks

This is most likely an issue with the Software Version 0.0 on the Forerunner 310XT and the possibility that you are still using Garmin ANT Agent to transfer data. The latest version of Garmin Express should ignore the Software 0.0 and allow the watch to Sync to Garmin Connect without pairing each time. Download and install the latest version Garmin Express.

Performing a Master Reset on the 310XT is sometimes necessary. See the FAQ: How do I master reset my Forerunner 310XT?

I reset the watch when I got it. Now showing version 4.50.
I use express as mentioned in post. When I try to install with your link, it's saying it is already installed, it's asking me to uninstall? running v 3.2.7.0
Just reset watch again, and tried again. Same issue. At start of express it's telling me" get started" want to pair device.

    Please advice

    Anything?
  • You'll have to complete the pairing with the FR 310XT one more time. If you continue to have troubles use the instructions below to delete two folders from the computer then Sync again. Make sure to hold the Lap/Reset button on the 310XT until it resets after you Stop the timer at the end of each run or activity.

    1. Windows Vista, 7, 8:

    • Delete the contents of the C:\ProgramData\Garmin\LegacyProxy folder

    2. Delete the contents of the C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\Devices

    • Press the Windows Key + R key together
    • Type this exactly, %Appdata%
    • Click OK
    • Open the Garmin folder
    • Open the Devices folder
    • Delete the numbered folder (unit id of the 310)

    4. Restart the computer

I suggest creating a couple of short 1min test activities once the computer restarts. It might take a couple Sync attempts for Express to recreate the folders that were deleted. If you continue to have troubles I suggest you contact us by phone: http://www.garmin.com/us/support/

I have no folder in C: called program data?
If you mean program files then yes but, then there is no legacy folder in that garmin folder
  • Really? You should do, which OS are you using?

Don't start deleting stuff from Program Files ... that way madness lies.

Have you changed your settings so that Windows is displaying Hidden Files and Folders? I believe ProgramData falls into that category, and the option to display is switched off by default as these are the files that Windows (correctly in most cases) thinks you shouldn't be monkeying around with.
  • ProgramData is a hidden folder.

    1. Press the Windows + R Key
    2. Type %programdata%
    3. Click OK

This should open the ProgramData folder.
