Garmin Express vs. 910XT -- refuses to connect

I have finally switched to "Modern" Connect (which is pretty impressive) and downloaded Garmin Express. While it transferred data easily earlier today via Ant Agent (so I at least know it all works), Express seems to have thrown everything into a tailspin. It tries repeatedly to connect to the device and on each attempt, the 910 will say "Transferring Data" for a moment before Express declares the whole thing an error and the 910 switches back to its regular screen. Every 2nd or 3rd try, the 910 will just completely shut off.

910 firmware is 3.00 and the watch seems to be fine otherwise. I have rebooted the computer, removed/replaced the stick etc. to no avail. Any help is appreciated!

    same issue with same watch and now ant agent is not working either!
  • +1 tons of problems with the 910xt running 3.0 and garmin Express. Should have just stuck with Ant Agent as Express is proving to be a PITA all the time.

    A couple of insights on mine to possibly help the guys troubleshoot:

    1) Garmin Express tries to connect to the watch for a good 5-10 seconds before the watch indicates "Transferring Data." It's then only a second or two before Express indicates and error and the watch switches back (or shuts off). Express might be timing out before the connection is officially established?

    2) Even though I "retired" my old devices through Modern Connect, Garmin Express still tries to default to my old 310 which I then have to manually switch to my current 910. Maybe it isn't pulling over the S/N or details once it's switched? (even though it's all correct when I go to "Device")...

    Just some ideas -- here's hoping the solution is simple!

    So I'm convinced that this is just a handshake issue on the part of Express. After updating to the latest version just now (3.2.7.0) and deleting any devices off of GE (while keeping them in Connect), the 910XT got as far as asking "Pair Express?" before running into the exact same problem yet again. The "Transferring Data" meter looks to get about 90% there before GE calls it quits and throws out an error. Still hoping it's a simple fix..

    same issue as everyone else. 910 shuts down when the transfer bar fills uo but nothing is transferred or downloaded.

    Guess I should not try Express yet. Thanks for sharing your experience guys.
  • I've had no problems using Garmin Express with a 910XT (actually two different 910's) and a 610 since version 3.2.4.0. There are a lot of folks that are not having these issues.

    I've had all sorts of problems with Garmin Express using my 910 and my wife's 610. My morning workout locked up during transfer (30 min) and after turning off and restarting my watch, the workout is gone :mad:. After 3 weeks of frustrating mishaps, I finally went back to Ant agent...no problems.

    I tried all the various things on the thread and just ended up deleting Garmin Express altogether downloading ant agent, re-installing it and all works fine. No more express. Worthless.
