910XT won't synchronize with Express

The Ant Agent did a good job many years, now I switched to Express and I am trying to sync my 910XT for 2 hours now! And it does not work. It is frustrating to say the least. Saw many others complaining about the same issue but no solution was offered?
  • Have you tried the instructions in the FAQ: What should I do if I'm having issues with the Garmin Express client?

  • I have had constant issues with Express and the 910xt. Won't connect, will fail, won't find the device, etc. etc. New problem every upload.
  • Having same problems as well with Garmin Express and my 910xt.
  • If you were previously uploading data with the ANT Agent and had started having trouble after installing Garmin Express, delete the device from Express then clean up the left over ANT Agent data. Pair the device with Express again and your uploads should resume.

    1. Delete the contents of the C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\Devic es\
    1. Press the Windows Key + R key together
    2. Type this exactly, %Appdata%
    3. Click OK
    4. Open the Garmin folder
    5. Open the Devices folder
    6. Delete the numbered folder (unit id of the fitness device)

    2. Delete the contents of the LegacyProxy folder located in C:\ProgramData\Garmin\LegacyProxy folder
    1. Press the Windows Key + R key together
    2. Type this exactly, %Programdata%
    3. Click OK
    4. Open the Garmin folder
    5. Open the LegacyProxy folder
    6. Delete the numbered folder (unit id of the fitness device)

    3. Restart the computer

    4. Pair the device and creating a couple of short 1 min test activities.

If you continue to have troubles I suggest you contact us by phone: http://www.garmin.com/us/support/

    here's what I did

I had the same problem with GarminExpress. (heap of sh%$ that it is...). It wouldn't recognise my 910 Forerunner - well it did recognise it but timed out when Express tried to communicate with the Garmin server to save the GPS's information "we are unable to communicate with the server at this time, please try again later" or something like that. I tried unsuccessfully for two weeks.

Here's what I did after scouring all the forums:
    1. Re-downloaded the Garmin Communicator plugin
    2. Re-downloaded the Garmin USB driver for ANT+
    3. Deleted GarminExpress
    4. Reloaded Garmin ANT Agent (TM) [this programme was the one that was working faultlessly before - still available on the GARMIN web site]
    5. Rechecked the pairing and data transfer options on the 910 handset. And plugged in the ANT stick. This activated the device to transfer data (although the data didn't come up on GARMIN Connect at the time.
    6. As the data didn't appear on GarminConnect I saw no problem with hard resetting my device - power down the device and then press and hold power and mode buttons simultaneously. The device asked if I wanted to reset and that it would erase all data. Select yes.
    7. Power the device UP. When the device turned on it the ANT Agent automatically opened and started to transfer some data (I'm not sure which data)
    8. I think somewhere along the way in the ANT Agent I disabled and enabled the pairing option by right clicking on the ANT Agent icon (in the Windows tool bar on the far right of the screen - near the clock)

This did the trick. And although all of my history was deleted from the device the fact that the device connected to the ANT Agent and did a transfer before I performed a HARD Reset I think saved/uploaded most/all of the workouts.

    Super stoked.
