Suggestions for Express

Hello. First post here. Don't mean to be so negative, but I like your product and I fear it will fail.

Guys, if you don't get in the game Siri will soon steal your market share. I don't want Siri to get you.
I like my Nuvi 1300lm. It says it has lifetime maps. I have been trying to update my maps for about a day now.
Have tried several softwares from Garmin. None of the "express" ones work. GarminMapUpdater_v3.1.5.exe seems to be working, says it'll take 4 hours. It has said that for 2 hours. I can download an entire OS in less time. It already took about 4 hours to find out that the express exes don't work.

I am reasonably computer savvy, but I don't have time for this. Most of my friends would have no chance of making it work.
There is no way I would permanently install Garmin software on my computer. Too glitchy. Fortunately I have a workaround.

Suggestions:
1.
Arrange for the maps to replace each other. I don't need 2 or 3 old versions, just the latest one. So I don't have to buy an extra memory card like I just did.
2.
Publish just one updater app that works for windows, and one for mac. You can do it.
3.
Better yet, have a bit of code on the Garmin device that connects to the 'net through the computer when it is attached.
You can do that too. "Connect your device, run connectup.exe, follow the prompts, etc, etc."
The folks over at Slitaz have an entire operating system that fits on a 256 mb USB stick. With room to spare.

There are probably lots of better ideas. But you should do something.
