Sync now "grayed out" after reboot.

Tried this on two computers with the latest GE 3.2.5 and 310xt; ANTUSB-m
- software installs ok, able to sync ok, Sync now button is working
- reboot computer, Sync now button is faded and no longer able to press. search for a new device or refresh doesn't find anything.
- deleting 310xt, then searching for it works ok, until the next reboot.

Am I doing something wrong?

Delete re-sync device every time is getting OLD

    Having the exact same problem....

I am having the same issue with my 310XT with both the old AntAgent, and the new Garmin Express. Garmin, how about at least a response if not a fix?
  • This could be an issue with the device creating a invalid file when Syncing with Express. The Forerunner 310XT will have to be Master Reset and two folders on the computer will need to be deleted.

    1. See the FAQ: How do I master reset my Forerunner 310XT?

    2. Windows Vista, 7, 8:
Delete the contents of the C:\ProgramData\Garmin\LegacyProxy folder

    3. Delete the contents of the C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\Devices
    • Press the Windows Key + R key together
    • Type this exactly, %Appdata%
    • Click OK
    • Open the Garmin folder
    • Open the Devices folder
    • Delete the numbered folder (unit id of the 310)

    4. Restart the computer

Garmin Express should Sync with Garmin Connect once complete. Contact Garmin Support if the issue continues: http://www.garmin.com/us/support/

  • Thanks Curt,
This worked for about 2 days. now exactly the same problem. Im not keen to keep resetting my watch everytime I reboot my computer. Is there a more permanent fix?

Master reset. Brilliant, been there done that several times. I also don't want to lose that data again!! How about Garmin not screwing around with a system that works, not making it a paint o get data to other services.

So the only solution is a master reset and losing all my data? That kind of sucks after putting in a couple days of solid workouts and now being unable to view my stats. What's the point of 'upgrading' the computer software if the new software doesn't work? I've seen the question posed multiple times on several different threads, so let me be the next in a long line to ask....

What is the permanent fix for this problem and when can we expect it to be fixed?
  • You should only have to go through the suggestions in #5 once if the watch is healthy and the software is up to date at 4.50.

Thankfully I found a way to fix this without going through the drastic step of a master reset on my watch (who would really want to do that?). Just uninstall and reinstall Garmin Express and you should be fine. Bit of a pain I know but at least you won't lose all your precious data.
  • The latest version of Garmin Express 3.2.21 released Oct 23rd 2014 should resolve this issue. Please see the FAQ: How do I update Garmin Express?
