Hello anyone
My Nuvi 1390 tells me that my maps need updating and I should go to the web site to purchase said maps .this fine but I don't want to do that at this time. Can I get past the map update notice and continue to use the device with the old maps??

Yes you can use old maps if you wish. I don't think you can disable the update message on your 1390 though.

On my 1310 it seems to go away for a bit only to return. No logic that I can see to it.

Thanks Stuart but this means that the device is unusable, since the update notice fills the screen

Seems to me that I am being held to ransom for £50 If I have to but more maps it will be an AA road map They have been OK! for 50 odd years

It doesn't stay there though surely? Goes away on mine.

As I recall there's an OK button on the screen that closes the message.

I know you can't use the unit to create a screen capture but could you post a digital photo of the screen. It sounds like you're seeing something different from what SUSSAMB and I have seen.
