Problem updating maps

I have attempted to update the maps (US & Canada2015.10) on my nuvi 2595 and PC using the latest version of Garmin Express on my Desktop PC and Laptop both running Windows 7 professional. The maps seem to down load and "build". Then I get an error message that says "installation error" this happened on both PCs. When I attempt to open Basecamp I get an MSVCP 90.dll error on the Desktop and a MSVCP120.dll error on the laptop. Said simply, the updating process seems to have corrupted Basecamp since it will no longer open on either PC.
In addition to the above issue the detailed map on my Nuvi were deleted as a result of this process and the new updated map US & Canada2015.10 was not installed. In essence, my nuvi has been neutered.
I have tried many of the solutions for the MSVCP problems to no avail. The only real solution was a system restore prior to the time I ran Garmin express. This fixed Basecamp I am been unable figure out how to load detailed maps to the Nuvi.
  • Just run the update process again. The problem with Basecamp is a known error and can be resolved by uninstalling then reinstalling Basecamp, no need to do a system restore.
  • If it's downloaded OK you just need to select it in Settings, Map, Map Info

My suggestion, from today's experience, is NOT to update via Garmin Express but to use Garmin's MapInstall. I spent many hours and MUCH bandwidth over the last three days as well as chatting with Garmin Tech Support (who, by the way, didn't suggest MapInstall) before I discovered this solution. btw, my system is also Win7Pro and the GPS is the same 2595. I hope this helps...
  • MapInstall moves maps from your PC to your device. The downside to this is that it doesn't update stuff like junction view files, so if you want them this method won't work.
