Updating multiple devices

MapUpdater offers / offered the options to leave installer files on the PC so that maps could be updated on more than one device without the need to download the full map set again.

So far as I can see, Express offers no equivalent facility: I am having to download 2015.1 twice to update my Nuvi and Zumo. On the relatively slow connection I have available, that takes some hours.

Could a future version of Express be enhanced to provide update facilities and options at least equivalent to MapUpdater?

TIA
  • If you are updating more than one device and the mapping versions are the same it should not have to download the same file more than once.

    Thank you.

However, last night I updated a Zumo 590 (saving maps to device and disk for BaseCamp) and then, without closing Express or even disconnecting the 590, this morning I updated a Nuvi 3598. Just as with the Zumo, the Nuvi update started out by reporting that the process would take >3hours and, alhough I can't say precisely how long it took, it was some hours, certainly considerably longer than updating two devices using MapUpdater.

Even if my experience is unusual and Express is designed to enable two or more devices to be updated without multiple downloads (how, if no option to preserve installation files is specified?) it would no doubt assist new users if the facility / option / requirements were flagged in the upgrade process.

Try a search in Windows Explorer (on the entire C:\ Drive) for "2015.1" (without the quotes). You should find something in
C:\Program Data\Garmin\Core Update Services and in
    C:\Program Data\Garmin\Maps
