Since the most recent update to Garmin Express on the 5/19/14 I have been unable to find where the 910xt files are being saved on my local computer. I log my workouts on Training Peaks for my Coach and use the Training Peaks Device Agent to upload them. Unfortunately, I have been unable to do that since the 19th without first exporting the .tcx file from Garmin Connect. Any help would be appreciated.
I have the same problem as mastromb, but I need the *.fit files for firstbeat athlete. It was pretty short sided to think all of the current, and future, customers would want to view data on the Garmin website. Most of the time, I want to view my data locally. I don't always have internet access, and i should have detailed access to my workout data when I am done with my workout. The files that are located in the folder as stated in the support link above (http://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/case.faces?caseId=%7Bafea30d0-9b70-11e3-d5f4-000000000000%7D) are not *.fit files (or any format recognized by firstbeat). I would also like to continue using GTC for my wife's workouts, or some sort of software that is similar. WE NEED LOCAL ACCESS PLEASE, via *.fit files.
I encountered the same problem--it broke the ability for SportTracks to import the files (now fixed via a plugin). One workaround is to go into the directory where the .fit files are stored and just change the (new) workouts to add the .fit extension. They're still .fit files, Garmin Express just doesn't name them properly. I'm not convinced it's a bug since GE doesn't seem to have a problem uploading the offending files to Garmin Connect. I wouldn't put it past Garmin to be testing the waters to see if they could get away with locking our data down.
Why would GE have a problem with the name of the file?
1. It (GE) put it there and knows it's a FIT file by virtue of GE putting it there 2. It (GE) probably opens the file and inspects the content rather than relying on the file extension alone...
