Advanced Options Missing - GE 3.2.4.0

I'm still trying to install maps to my computer - firstly with a mac, & after no joy there, now a PC. the maps concerned are Australia & NZ 2015.10.

Every instruction I've read says to use the "Advanced" link under the device menu. this link existed on the mac GE, but is not on the PC version, as per images below. both GE installations are the latest versions. although the mac GE showed the advanced link, it did not install the maps to the machine, only the device despite choosing to install it to both.

I have uninstalled all Garmin software several times, cleaned out caches & temporary file directories, rebooted, & threatened to throw the machines out of the window. all to no avail. the only upside is that the map does work on the device.

any suggestions would be appreciated!

If it's not even working with a usb stick something is wrong, suspect this will only be resolved by the Express team looking at your account.

I'm picking that since this thread & my thread in the Garmin Express - Mac forum have had no response from the Express Team that my problem is unable to be solved.

Does anybody know of any good deals on Tom Tom units?
  • Well I'm still unsure why you're even having this issue, the Advanced Options giving a download to device, PC or both has been there without fail since the early days of Express. If you still are convinced the option isn't there (and only the Express team can explain why it only seems to happen with those who use Aus and NZ maps) then I'd use GarminMapUpdater for PC ... look for the View Options button bottom left and select 'Install to PC'.
  • We are currently looking into the problem that you are experiencing with the Australia mapping loading to your computer. In the meantime, I might suggest using BaseCamp with the Zumo connected, to view the mapping.
If you do not have BaseCamp you can download from this link: http://www8.garmin.com/support/mappingsw.jsp

    Thanks Trish,

I have basecamp, hence the reason why I'm trying to get the maps installed on my computers (both PC & mac). It is not practical to have to connect the gps unit to each computer as I'm wanting to work on it. I have 3 computers that I used to be able to work on my trips, all in different locations.

I am yet to try the new GE version for Mac. If that doesn't help then the Zumo will end up on ebay, & I'll move to a brand that works.
  • In the meantime you could copy your maps to a USB stick or sd card, Basecamp will read the maps off that to save you connecting your zumo every time.

I have tried this method also, GE will not recognise the USB stick. I have tried sticks ranging from 1GB-16GB, formatted in FAT, FAT32, ExFat, & NTFS. I have also tried using SD cards, all to no avail.
  • Not suggesting GE will, for that to happen you need to copy garmim\garmindevice.xml file to the card. Basecamp though will read the maps.
  • Again, unable to install maps to computer with Garmin Express

    Hi,

I've updated my maps on a Zumo 390 LM to CN Australia and New Zealand NT 2015.10. That went fine.

But there is no way to install the maps to my computer using Garmin Express 3.2.7.0! I have done this many times in the past with earlier versions of maps and Express.

That Advanced Options to install to both or either seems to have gone?

    Can anybody verify this?

    Thanks Joachim
  • I've moved your post to the thread that discusses this issue, as you'll see there appears to be a problem with the CN Aus & NZ maps, which I understand from Trish's post above is being investigated by Garmin. In the meantime you will have to use the work around in post #16
