Manual Upload to Modern Version of Connect

I don't know why the upload feature has been removed from the modern version of Connect, or why a manual upload feature can't be included with Express for that matter?

When activities on my 910 don't automatically upload to Connect, as has happened a good few times already, the only way I can get these activities off my 910 and onto Connect is by manually uploading them using the 'upload' option. If the option to manually upload files is taken away from Connect it will make things very difficult due to the fact that if it doesn't upload a workout automatically it blocks all future workouts from being uploaded.

Also there are occasions where I will use a different device and upload the .gpx file to Connect to keep all my workouts in one place. Removing the manual upload takes this option away from me.

All in all I think removing the manual upload feature from the modern version of Connect and Express is a big mistake and one that should be rectified immediately.

Agree, please add manual upload from the device to the Modern interface, this is now the only way I can upload activities as sync with Garmin Express having issues with Fenix 2.
  • My Fenix 2 (fw2.9) also doesn't sync using GE 3.2.4.0 :/ It doesn't also work several months with older GE so I use Garmin Communication plugin, which works without any problems. I've switched to Modern UI, I must always go to Settings, Switch temporaly to Classic and then I can Upload.
  • In modern. Go to the activities page. Click on 'import' pick your file and it imports. No messing around switching back to 'classic'.

Does that only work if you have the file already on your computer?

The problem I am facing is that sometimes using the upload button is the only way to get the file off the device itself.
  • If you currently have either GarminExpress or ANTAgent installed (one or the other, never both) - then you should always end up with the file from an ANT+-connected device cached on your PC if it has successfully transferred that far. I'm not on a device that I can look just now - but it has been discussed on this forum where the files are placed in that circumstance. If they are not getting that far then it is possible on the device (at least true of the 610) that you can resend the workout (to the PC... to Garmin Connect) manually from the device.
  • In modern. Go to the activities page. Click on 'import' pick your file and it imports. No messing around switching back to 'classic'.

Thanks, it's a better temporary solution. Working GE would be the better :) I've tried all the resets, uninstalls, installs..., but nothing works. I could send my log files somewhere, if it helps.

I can't see the "Import" button on the connect page. I have gone to the 'Activities' page as per above, but no "Import" button, only "export to csv" at the bottom of the table, any ideas ?
  • In "Classic" connect (the word "modern" is absent from the address bar) - the upload button is in the top blue ribbon towards the right side of the screen - below your username.
In "Modern" connect (the word "modern" appears in the address bar) - there is the import text (it's not a button) - it's to the right of the screen again above the table of activities and below the keyword search box.

I from what you have said I assume I am on the 'classic' version. when I click on "upload" i dont get the option to manually upload from a file - just re-directed to a page telling me to download garminExpress. NB this seems to have changed since I used it on Monday. I dont want to download the express tool on this pc so happy just to manually do it.

How then do I connect to the modern version ? I cant see any link for that. Also, I've only had the account for a couple of weeks and this was the default option. thanks
