Problems updating to CN NA 2015.10

If not wait for it to be fixed. Not sure which device you have, seems to work with older nuvis better than the newer ones.

I still do not any map detail . I try reinstalling with mapupdater 3.3.3. no luck. I have a Europe microsd if insert it into my 3760 the map detail are there for US and I lose it for Europe.
I have read on internet that Garmin is having a lot of problems with 2015.10 if this is the case there no need for me to try other solution until Garmin fixes 2015.10

What is different with this Map Update is when I use computer only the browse function of where I want the maps to go is grayed out. It shows the default which I can't change. It downloads but when it tries to install you get the error. It has failed on 2 different computers for me. Why I have to use Garmin Express I don't understand. Why not a downloadable .exe for the update? Oh yeah I forgot, the same people that replaced Mapsource with Basecamp!

How do you install to a CLONE device? How do you create a clone device??

BTW I updated last night with express with no problems....but I just reinstalled my OS and all software cause I couldn't get my device to update before that!

Copy the \Garmin\GarminDevice.xml file from your real device to a removable drive (SD card, USB stick etc).

Garmin's software will then see that removable drive as your device. You can install updates (firmware and maps) to it.

You then manually (once verified as ok) copy the new files to your real device. That way any screwups by Garmin software cannot affect your actual device only the clone.

NA 2015.10 will not install

I have lifetime up date.
I had a had drive crash and was repaired with a new HD.
Prior to crash I had installed Base Camp and the most current map at the time CN NA 2014.xx with no issue.
I have installed Base camp and Express with no issues. However when I download the current map
CN NA 2015.10, it downloads fine but will not install to computer.
"this program failed to install requested maps to your computer" is the message I get.
I am running windows 8.1 64-bit. I have tried numerous times. I have shut down my anti-virus still no install.
I have been able to install the original map CN NA 2008 from the disc that came with my unit etrex legend HCX

Do any members have any suggestions?

Didnt work on win7 nor Vista either

We have corrected some server side issues with the 2015.10 map update download which should help with server traffic. We are still experiencing some issues and are working to get these corrected as fast as we can. Some of the issues that were described in this thread are already in the works to get fixed:
1) DEM map being removed from device during map update
2) Map installation to the computer
These 2 things have been reported and hopefully will be resolved fairly quickly.
I apologies for an inconvenience this may have caused but we are trying to get this resolved.

Updated Garmin Express and as you said no joy on installing 2015 on my computer.

If you need the file on your computer now this procedure apparently works, assuming you picked the "download to Device and to Computer" option when you downloaded the map update.

- From Windows Explorer look on your computer for the folder C:\ProgramData\GARMIN\Core Update Service\MAP-NA-2015-10\IMG\City Navigator North America NT 2015.10.gmap.

- copy the folder and it's contents to map folder on your computer. This folder is probably C:\ProgramData\GARMIN\Maps

- Start up Basecamp and insure you pick the 2015.10 maps as the one you want to use

- You'll receive a warning that the map hasn't been unlocked.

- From the Manage Maps screen, select the 2015.10 maps and click "Unlock Online"

- read the Garmin webpage screen that will open carefully and with your Nuvi attached to the computer select Find Devices.

- when your GPS is found, click on Retrieve Unlocks at the bottom of the page.

- you should now have unlocked maps that are useable in Basecamp.

Although this method works there is at least one down side and that is that the 2015.10 maps can not be deleted from the computer using normal uninstall programs like the one included with Windows or other 3rd party programs.
