Problems updating to CN NA 2015.10

Greetings !

The DEM map on my brand new Nuvi 3597 was completely wiped out from my device after installing NA 2015.10
(Used the latest Garmin express)

Left is only:
CN North America NT 2015.10 3D
CN North America NT 2015.10 All


How do I get the DEM map back ???

TRYING to update maps on my Mom's Garmin before she travels next week.

It connected to Garmin Express but then failed to update. Now there are NO maps on the device. Can't even type in an address. I'm so fed up! Why is this so difficult!!

I got CN NA NT 2015.10 with the unmentionable GarminMapUpdater 3.3.3 (I don't and won't have GarminExpress on any of my PC's) last night. No issues.

PS: I use a clone device and NEVER let Garmin software touch my devices directly.

This exact same thing just happened to my one year old 3597, using the latest GE v3.2.4.0. :mad:

The 3D terrain "CNNA - UPPER CAN - DEM North America DEM" is not listed and the 600MB \.system\gmapdem.img is gone! :mad:

OK Garmin, how do we get this 600MB file back? :confused: :(

Your question to Garmin is a legitimate one. But just for accuracy, the size of gmapdem.img on the 3597 is not 2 GB. On my 3597LMTHD it is 594 MB (623,591,424 bytes). On the 3790 it is 1.14 GB (1,227,325,440 bytes).

Guess you didn't back up your nuvi before the map update? Always advisable to do that or, as Stuart mentioned above (both he and I do it), download any update to a clone, that way if things do go wrong you can recover.

Garmin Express 3.2.4.0 Loads NA2015.10 to device will not load to computer. Doesn't work with GarminMapUpdater 3.3.3 or GarminLifetime.exe 2.0.12 the old standbys. In the Program Data/Garmin/Core Update Service it is missing the CNNANT2015_10update.msi installer file. It does download then goes to configuring then to install and errors off and tells you to try again or contact support--Which I did. The files are in the Program Data Garmin Core Update Service Folder but no Installer package there as in the other MAP-EU-2014-40 or the old Map-NA-2014-40. If this helps any.
Their site states that the acknowledge a problem and engineers are working on it-- we heard this before!!

I've also lost the DEM file on my 3597, is there any way to get it back, does Garmin have an answer? And yes...I didn't back it up either...lesson learned.

I have a copy of the DEM file on a 3790, can I copy that to the 3597?

Answered this on the other forum where you posted it, but yes, I believe it's the same file so should work.

I tried it on the other map update pgm after garmin exrpress repeatably failed. Told me my product keys were bad. AND i lost all map info on my device!!!! This is bad garmin very bad!!!! How do get the 2014 maps back on my device???? Worse is they told they had fixed the issue on friday night.
