Controlling Garmin Express sync

Hi, all.

Just switched over to Garmin Express with the new-look Garmin Connect website.
Long-time user of old-look Garmin connect, with upload button and the Garmin Connect browser plugin, which worked just fine.

Now, it auto-syncs *everything* from my edge 800 as soon as I plug the thing in, and does not offer me the option to select / de-select the rides I want uploaded.

How do I stop it auto-syncing everything, and re-gain some control over what is uploaded?

The Garmin Express was designed to upload all data on your device and allow you to select what you wanted in Garmin Connect when you are inside of Garmin Connect. While at this time we do not have a way of selecting what gets uploaded and what does not. If you wish to switch back to the old method you can by uninstalling the Garmin Express and switching to the classic view in Connect by selecting the user profile on the left hand side and selecting "Switch to Classic Temporarily". This will allow you to resume what you have done in the past. Otherwise you would want to delete what you did not want to see in Connect. To do so:

Sign into Garmin Connect
Select the Activities
Check mark all items you wish to change
Select Delete at the top of the menu
Repeat for any additional pages

Similarly, is there a way to just update the firmware version of devices without having everything sync? Working with multiple devices in a shop environment it is rather frustrating to not be able to cancel the sync part of the process so as not to have to wait hours. I also don't really want all those activities sync'd to my account!
