Problem with DEM map

DEM (Digital Elevation Model) Not Avilable After update CNME&NT

In nuvi 3590 with CNME&NA NT 2012.03 and City Navigator Europe NT 2012.30; DEM (Digital Elevation Model) files (gmapdem.img) and gmapdem1.img were in D:\.System Folder.

After Maps updated to CNMENA NT 2014.04 and City Navigator Europe NTU 2014.40 through Garmin Express, I checked and there is only one DEM (Digital Elevation Model) in nuvi screen and gmapdem.img in D:\.System For Europe NTU.

Which means Digital Elevation Model file (gmapdem.img) For CNME&NA NT is removed and no new file uploaded.

I tried to re-install CNME&NA NT but still no DEM file installed in nuvi device.

Any Idea :)

The DEM map is for the preloaded data of the device. The 3590 will only have 1 gmapdem.img which is around 594MB in size. I am not sure why there would be 2 files on the device. If there was additional maps purchased for your device the additional maps would not load another DEM map to the device.

The Nuvi 3590LM is preloaded with North America maps or Europe maps not both. When a map update is performed the DEM mapping is not modified.

I have verified the mapping on a 3590 and the map files are :
Main map file - gmapprom.img
Base map file - gmapbmap.img
DEM map file - gmapdem.img

I have checked the DEM map file - gmapdem.img in nuvi 3590 and found 317,841,408 bytes (After update took place).

I'm not sure which map of CNME&NA NT 2014.04 and City Navigator Europe NTU 2014.40 was the per-load map, but now I have in D:\.system Folder:
Main map file - gmapprom.img > 329,678,848 bytes For (For CNME&NA NT 2014.04)
Base map file - gmapbmap.img > 51,003,392 bytes
DEM map file - gmapdem.img > 317,841,408 bytes (For Europe NTU 2014.40 OR CNME&NA NT 2014.04 - NOT SURE!!!)
3D File - gmap3d.img > 80,760,832 bytes (For CNME&NA NT 2014.04)
3D File - gmap3d1.img > 752,173,056 bytes (For City Navigator Europe NTU 2014.40)

AND
In SD:\ GARMIN Folder:
Main map file - gmapprom1.img > 3,523,936,256 bytes (For City Navigator Europe NTU 2014.40)

The only difference between the status before and after update is gmapdem1.img which is disappeared.:confused:

It sounds like you have the Europe version of the 3590. If this is the case the DEM map would be larger. If you register your 3590 we would be able to tell you more about the device and what mapping came with your device and what mapping has been unlocked to your device. If you do decide to register your device this can be done through Garmin Express under the device menu.
