I updated my Edge 500 to FW 3.30 last night through Garmin Express, and encountered a small issue. Essentially, after (successfully) updating the unit to 3.30, Express hung while syncing, showing "< 1min. remaining..." in the green progress bar. After 15 minutes, I ejected the unit, turned it on to find FW 3.30 successfully installed, and re-connected. Same response from GE. The device was recognized by both GE, the computer, and third party sites like Strava, and I was able to access my .fit files through Windows Explorer, but not able to upload files through GE. I took the unit for a ride this morning and everything worked the way it should, and I was able to manually upload the .fit file to GC with no issues.
I was thinking I had a Taiwan-based Edge 500 issue on my hands, but from what I understand, the Taiwan model won't even allow a flash of the US firmware, so perhaps I was over-thinking things there.
Any ideas? I'm fine uploading files manually to GarminConnect if that's the answer. It'd just be swell if GE could make my life ever so slightly easier by doing that for me upon connecting to my PC.
UPDATE: I performed a master reset, and GC still hangs during sync. The progress wheel to the left of the 'Sync Now' button just spins and spins after I click to start the process. No files are uploaded. Everything else seems to work just fine.
UPDATE 2 (5/9): Not sure what changed but GE automatically uploaded my ride from this morning. I noticed there was a Garmin Express update available after the upload took place, so I'm not sure what changed. I'll keep updating my software, but everything seems to be working as it should now.
