Transferring data from 910XT to Garmin Express "unable to pair"

I'm new to all this, but seem to read various similar problems throughout the forums.
I don't know if I have a problem with my forerunner 910XT or Garmin Express.
I tried for the first time to download my workouts to GE (newly installed, so up-to-date) via ANT+ stick.
Stick plugged in, recognises the device, device says "transferring data", GE says pairing failed/unable to pair - tells me to ensure pairing is enabled, device is stuck. Tried resetting device but same thing happens each time.
I've been through the menus & checked that pairing is enabled, so what's going wrong?!
Anyone had any similar problems, or anyone from Garmin or the wider world out there offer me any solutions?!
I've (in sad desperation) deleted all my old workouts more than 1 month old (have never downloaded them before eek) to see if it was a volume issue, but that hasn't worked either.

    Hi,
    I am having EXACTLY the same issue as you.
    It was working fine just 2 weeks ago and all workouts since are not syncing. The device is found but i get the error message 'Sorry, pairing could not be completed'.
    Had my Garmin since September last year with no issues. Updated to the latest software last month and it's just not been right since.
    Very frustrating..

    I'm thinking now it might be more 910XT that is at fault, as for some reason it isn't saving all my activities - v annoying - have no record of my run today, or yesterday.

    I had a similar problem with my 910XT and express. After syncing the 910 with express for the first time 910XT seemingly started not saving activities. When I looked into it further I discovered express had somehow caused the 910XT to reorder all the activities on it into a seemingly random order. I found the latest activity by scrolling through all activities on the 910 until I eventually found it amongst some activities from last year.

    I am having the same problems. Is there anyone who knows the solution?

    Pairing and data transfer are enabled. The old Ant+ program has been uninstalled.

    I can't transfer anything. :*(
  • I was having a similar problem with my 910xt after updating to Express, but cured it by going to settings/system/data transfer and turning on pairing (not sure why this had turned off...). Hope that helps.
  • I'm having the same issue with my FR 405. I upgraded GE to the latest version (v 3.2.4.0) and enabled pairing on the device (Settings/ANT+/Computer). Whenever I try to add my device, GE successfully finds my 405 (as evidenced by displaying the serial number), but is unable to pair. I have tried this over and over, with no success. Occasionally, I am prompted to see what user I want to Run As (current user or Administrator) and have tried both - no success with either. I don't have much more hair to pull out.

    BTW, I'm running Windows XP (fully patched) with the latest version (v4.5) of Windows Installer - I needed that to update GE to 3.2.4.0.

    Update: I installed the latest version of GE at work (Windows 7, fully patched) and it worked perfectly. At home, I'll try launching GE first, then inserting the ANT+ stick and finally try to pair the 405. I'll update when I have tried that.

    I followed the directions on the Garmin Express help page 3 times (deleting device, restarting computer, adding device, pairing device, syncing) and Garmin Express was never able to sync and upload data from my latest 2 hours workout (I can see the data on my Garmin 910). Long story short, I deleted the Garmin Express software and downloaded the ANT app. Started using it and now everything is fine. Data uploaded seamlessly, as it did previously with the ANT app. I will not use the Garmin Express software until they work out all the bugs with it and the 910. FYI, I am using the Mac version.

    I'm having similar problem as those describe above. Did a 40 minute workout last night and it refuses to transfer via GE. I never got my ironman data off either. Surely a company the size of Garmin needs to start getting the basics right. They make some great products, although seem to over do the product range in some areas, but yet cannot get the data transfer and website right - shocking really. The response to issues is non existent.
