Data not uploading to Garmin connect, but Garmin Express reporting sync complete

Hi,

My set up.
Windows 7
IE 11
Garmin 310XT

Garmin Express reports that the sync is complete, however, the data is NOT uploaded in Garmin Connect.

I have re-synced several times, even after trying to
  • Cleared cache in IE,
  • Refreshed IE
  • Rebooted laptop
  • Rebooted Garmin device
  • Looked for all relevant Garmin related updates.

Nothing worked, the communication of the similar /same issue posted here, does not work for me.

  • I am having the same issue- that Garmin express tells me it has synced, yet the activities are not visible in Garmin Connect.

I saw someone suggest the files may be corrupt - why would they be? Any other way to get them off my Garmin and onto my laptop? Even if I then must manually upload them into Garmin Connect?

I have this same problem (although I synced successfully two weeks ago after reinstalling Express and re-pairing the device) with a Forerunner 405 (firmware watch: 2.80; GE: 2.80). Just did a run, it doesn't sync correctly (i.e. Express says it's synced, but nothing shows up online on Connect). Removed watch from GE, re-paired it. Nothing. ade a test activity of 10s, did sync correctly and did turn up online. Hmm, so something must be working?
After that, I tried looking in the watch's ANT+ -> Computer settings. Pairing was set to 'off' ... Wait a minute, I just paired this thing?! Set that to 'On'. Using Force Send worked for the run I couldn't get to sync. This took me less than 2 minutes. (it did save me some time to have already removed all old runs (i.e. older than a month for the 405, I had those online already) the last time I synced because I was having trouble back then as well..)
This might help people who're having the same problems as I did. I do wonder why Garmin people say the files might be corrupt, as the Force Send option worked fine.

A note for Garmin people: while syncing I kept close watch on my watch's screen and GE. It had the "Transferring Data..." line, and the empty box for the progress bar. Nothing happened there, yet while this screen was still there, the "Transfer completed" pop-up appeared, even though the watch and GE were still displaying that they were syncing afterwards. This weird thing did not happen with the Force Send or the test activity. GE also did not acknowledge any runs needing uploading with the failed upload/successful sync problem (no progress bar at the top or such) but did when I tried the test activity and the Force Send.

Similar problem with a Forerunner 910XT, Mac:
(all software up-to-date on all devices/computers)

It seems to fail when the Garmin Connect website is having 'issues' - like today. I tried removing Garmin Express and trying Garmin ANT Agent instead but that didn't work either.

    I did find a solution:
    - I went to <user>/library/application support/garmin/express/registered devices/<device no>/pending sync uploads/activities/
    - in this folder were the .fit files which had not uploaded (oddly they had their .fit extension removed)
    - I copied the missing file (based on the date) to the desktop and added the .fit extension
    - then I manually imported the file using the 'Import' link on the 'Activities' page on Garmin Connect

That seemed to solve it. It's really annoying that you can see a historical list of activities that have (or have not) been uploaded. It's even more annoying that you can't force a transfer of a specific activity. If I lost a race I would be pretty upset.
