Garmin 405 cx - cannot upload

I changed computers installed Gamrin express latest version , and tried up loading will not pair with the device

The system recognizes the device with the serial number etc but will not pair - any one has any suggestions

  • The Forerunner 405CX is currently not supported by Garmin Express. You will still need to use ANT Agent to upload for now. Support for the 400 series should be added to a mid-May release of Express.

    Hi,

    I must admit it is pretty disapointing. Have just spend 2h to get my 405CX working again with the Garmin Connect because there is no clear information of what's going on on Garmin side.

    For those who are struggling along, what resolved my issues is:
    - install ANT Agent - so that you can Pair your device and download your activities to your PC
    - install Communicator Plugin, so that it is able to download them up to Garmin Connect
    - "Switch to Classic Temporarily" on Garmin Connect or it will try to use Garmin Express to exchange with your device, failing

    Unfortunately Garmin Express finds the device and starts coupling, but fails, which is unclear unless you spend a while googling all over the world.

    That's a pity indeed. Garmin products are of good quality, and such a small point impacts user experience and undermines your image.
    What I would appreciate, are two things:
    1. clear message on Garmin Connect stating "for the model 405CX do this and that" instead of the link to the page where no clear information can be found.
    2. clear message on Garmin Express stating "405CX detected - do this and that waiting for the full support" instead of a mumbo jumbo "oh my, I am doing my best but it's a hard time so let's spend a day googling around, reinstalling your PC, or just buy the latest model from Garmin so you will have Garmin Express working nice and smoothly (hopefully)..."
    I know that is diffucult to satisfy everybody, but in my case 5min investment on your side to add two lines of code with the clean message would keep me satisfied and happy using Garmin products.

    I am going for the session with my 405CX with the last workout on and working fine again, and that makes me happy :-)
    I hope my remark will help Garmin to improvide this small point so that all 405CX users will feel the same

  • I apologize for a lack of clarity from our website. Depending on how you got to the Modern Connect site, you may not have seen this "Getting Started" page: Garmin Connect - Getting Started

    Below the "Download for Windows/Download for Mac" button there is a warning symbol next to the Forerunner 305, 405, and 410 for alternate instructions. Obviously, that isn't very helpful to you now, but we intended for connect.garmin.com to be the starting point for fitness devices. Thankfully, support for that device is coming soon.
