Express .. 3.1.8.. Extra workaround does not work from 3.1.7...

here is what I used for directions....

•Deleting the device from the application and then reassociating it will update the stored configuration files. This procedure can fix a variety of issues.

To remove the device and reassociate it:

1.Open Garmin Express
2.Click Device
3.Click Delete Device from Express
4.Uncheck the box next to Delete the saved backups
5.Click Yes to remove the device
6.Close Garmin Express and restart the computer
7.Open Garmin Express and follow the on-screen prompts to add the device back to Express


I did this twice... I do not have anything showing in Extras...

and my QUESTION... other than arrows and cars... what else is there in Extras.....
also my brother in law has an older Garmin.. it has a calculator .. is this available for the 2597??

That's probably deliberate so users don't use it while driving. My outdoor units have a calculator.

The blank Extras tab could be caused by your browser settings. I would recommend trying the following options:

• Clear the browser cache
  
• Reset your browser (Internet Explorer)
  
• Change default browser

that did the trick.. Extras are working now....
with Express being a stand alone program...resetting IE10, but I am NO computer expert...

I too am getting a blank Extras page. But what has Internet Explorer to do with Garmin Express. I don't (and won't) run IE, using Firefox instead. Am I stuck without the Extras functionality?

Try resetting Firefox.. I use Firefox for my banking and bill paying......... IE10 for everything else...

I don't know what it means to reset Firefox (or IE for that matter). If it means to reinstall it, that's out of the question. Can someone be more specific about the relationship between Garmin Express and the browser?

Update:

without any installs or upgrades.. nothing.. the Extras are blank again.. so the reset and everything only works for one day...


for me.. not that big of a deal.. and the only things in Extras are pointers and sounds... not worth the work....
or reinstalling all the links, passwords... for everything I go to in a day.
