nuvi 2545 LMT - Can't update Western European Maps

Connected my Garmin to my computer for the first time in a while
There were 5 software updates which went on fine
However the maps just won't update - it just fails with the attached screen shot within about 30 seconds of accepting the disclaimer notice
I've tried various times over the last 24 hours
I even completely uninstalled my anti-virus and did it then (since it was up for its annual renewal and refresh anyway)

The URL under "please contact customer support" just tells me to download Garmin Express (which I am already using)
I can't see any error codes or logs to explain what this error means
I also went into advanced settings and tried to download to "computer and device", but this just failed also

How do I resolve this issue please?
  • I'm moving this to the Express forum where the Express team should be able to help.

    I assume you've disconnected your GPS, switched it on and allowed it to update before trying the map download? If not you may want to try that.
  • Garmin Express generates a detailed log file each time it's ran. Since these logs may contain personal computer information, I am going to send you a Private Message to collect them.

  • If you didn't see a message saying Loader Loading ... then your software hasn't updated. Hopefully the logs you've sent Sam will sort it out for you.

  • The reason for this is that even though you may have been logged in as an administrator the installation didn't have the elevated rights it needed. When you right click the install file and choose "Run as administrator" it adds the elevated rights to install correctly.

  • Your problem is unusual. I've owned Garmins for many years and have only ever had one problem, and that a very minor one, when updating maps (whisper, if you look through the TT forums you'll find users with issues there as well :)).

    Seriously now ... exactly what is the problem with your unit. Are you running the latest Express version? Where does the map update fail and with which error message if any? Which map is it? I can pretty much guarantee that the issue will be in your PC/nuvi system somewhere, and with a bit of information from you it will be resolved.
