Problem with vivofit

I have recently bought a vivofit which uses the garmin express for uploads. The USB ANT uploader is much smaller than the ANT Agent device, and also worked with my 910XT, so that is all I have bought with me on an overseas trip to run London Marathon. While both worked fine at home, I have now struck the "Problem with our servers" issue. I do not want to reset anything and risk losing my marathon data, so I am hoping a fix is found at Garmin's end... I don't get back home to switch back to the ANT Agent until the end of the month and I would dearly love to look at my marathon data as well as my vivofit info. I am happy to provide more info if this helps garmin...

    Are you at a Hotel and or Hot spot as this sounds like you are having an issue with the communication to our servers.
    Can you manually upload the data to Garmin connect from the 910XT?

    I would also suggest trying a different location to connect to the internet if possible as I did test your account here and all is working.

    I received an email with a password reset so have tried that too. I was staying at a hotel but am now at a friends house and despite the password reset am stll getting the same message. I have just tried a manual upload... and it doesn't seem to find my last 4 runs, even though they are still present on the 910XT...
    Garmin Express also seems to have the files waiting for upload but just not able to connect.
    What next?

    Until the server issue is resolved, should I be adding more runs to the 910XT and vivofit or is this likely to compound the problem or just give me more data to lose?
    Trawling the forums, I am getting the idea that the error message being triggered is not appropriate if in fact it is corrupt data on the device rather than a server error. It may lead to less frustration if the error message were more accurate. Is there any understanding of why data gets corrupted? I did have issues a while back with the 910XT but it has been very stable since the last few software upgrades. The current issue seems to be timely in changing from the ANT Agent to the Garmin Express, and I am hoping that maybe reverting to the ANT Agent may allow my precious London Marathon data to be uploaded. However I am travelling unntil May 1 so any fix I can apply sooner would be very welcomed. The fact I have had no reply for a few days suggests it is a problem as yet without a clear simple resolution!

    Just checking in as I am not sure how this works. Support pages seem to suggest using the forum as first port of call, but they do not appear to be closely monitored. I am still getting the servers are down error message, and still not sure what the next step is for me to resolve this...

  • Still problems with vivofit, 910XT & garmin express

    Update.
    I am now back home and have access to my ANT USB device supplied with the 910XT.
    I have uninstalled garmin express and uploaded all workouts from my 910XT using ANT Agent.
    The upload went OK but advised there was a problem with sending things on to garmin connect.
    I have subsequently been able to upload all my workouts to garmin connect manually from the computer files.

    I have then reinstalled garmin express to again set up my vivofit but it is hitting the same roadblock of "servers are unavailable so I can get no further. It seems perhaps there is some incompatibility with the ANT agent which it appears I need for the 910XT and the garmin express which it appears I need for the vivofit.

    Because I am now happy I have my London Marathon data safely uploaded I am happy to do master resets etc if needed but I am not sure how resetting my 910XT will help getting my vivofit to connect!!

    Looking forward to hearing the next suggestion.

    Just to reassure me I am still in the right place- what sort of time frame ought I expect some sort of reply or should I be emailing for support?
  • Further update but only limited progress

    My current work-around is I have installed my vivofit downloads via Garmin Express on an old workstation. This now works fine, but it is clunky running two separate systems, and my Win XP will not be supported for very much longer!
    I can manually upload my 910XT via my ANT Agent on my regular system [laptop] but I need to manually get it to Garmin Connect because I am now getting a "wrong username/password" combo message from ANT-even though I know it is correct!
    Sigh.
    I will try a manual reset of my 910XT, but I would REALLY value some feedback here to know if the underlying system problems are being resolved to allow normal full functionality or if there is something different I should be doing here.
