GE seeing duplicate activities

My 310XT has never had any issue uploading activities. Since the last update of Garmin Express, the software keeps finding multiple versions of the same activity, even though there is only 1 new activity. Today I recorded a 3 hour Nordic Ski, went to upload and GE found 43 new activities, all dated/timed exactly the same i.e. when I pressed the start button. It took about 30 mins to sync it all and it wouldn't appear on the website until every "activity" had been transferred and uploaded. As one of the 43 failed, it had to do the lot again. Once uploaded, Garmin Connect only shows the 1 new activity, which is of course correct.

This is going to be a real nuisance and I can only assume it's an issue with Garmin Express as everything has worked perfectly for the last 3 years.

Any ideas?

  • The issue you describe sounds like the activities are corrupted on the 310XT. I would suggest the following:

    1. Manually update Express to the latest version. How do I update Garmin Express?
    2. Remove the device from Express How do I delete a fitness device from Garmin Express?
    3. Perform an unprompted master reset on 310XT How do I master reset my Forerunner 310XT?
    4. Record a fake activity, pair the device with Express and then record another fake activity to transfer.
