Garmin Express, what a pain.

If I install Garmin Express I can upload from my Vivofit, but my Tanita Ant+ scale won't upload, if I uninstall Garmin Express the scale works but I can't upload the Vivofit. Is there a workaround?

I've had similar problems with a different app (TrainerRoad).

What I've had to do is close express and then move the ANT+ sensor to a different USB port and I can use TrainerRoad, close TrainerRoad and move the ANT+ back to the original USB port and Express works.

    Total pain the butt. :-/

  • I assume you are attempting to use Garmin Express to communicate with the vivofit and Ant Agent to communicate with the Tanita Ant+ Scale. The two applications cannot both communicate with the Ant stick at the same time which leaves you with two options:

    • You can connect multiple Ant Sticks to the computer at the same time to allow both applications to control individual sticks and lines of communication.
    • You can insure that only one application is running on the computer at the same time. To insure this I suggest setting Ant Agent to not run at start up by removing the start-up selection at exit, then restart the computer. You can then upload vivofit data with Express, close the application and open Ant Agent to upload from your scale. If both applications open automatically at start up only one will communicate with a Ant stick and knowing which application has control is tough to determine.

Thanks SMEBrett, I had two Ant sticks installed which didn't help, I worked out that if I set Express not run at startup I could get my scale data and then start Express to get the Vivofit data (the Vivofit is only for fun anyway). Is doing it this way going to cause me further problems?
  • 57DIBBS,

No, uploading data this way should not cause you any further problems.

    Respectfully,
