Automatic update doesn't work

Since Express first came on the scene I've had the box 'Automatically update Garmin Express when a new version is available' checked ... it never does. Since it seems some effort is now being put into getting Express correct, maybe someone could look at the fact the auto update doesn't work.
  • Despite various updates the automatic update (if selected) of Express still don't work, is there any plan to correct this? If not perhaps the option should be removed.
  • The auto update function is designed to only update if you are on a version older than 3.0.9 currently.

  • Well it never worked then either, but really? That's counter-intuitive to what it says so how is anyone expected to know that? I strongly suggest it should either be made to work or removed.
  • I agree with SUSSAMB. Either autoupdate or don't. Not some (undocumented) halfway house
  • The Garmin Express Client is working as designed for the automatic updates feature. However, we recognize that there is a disconnect with the user experience and the team will work to improve this feature to eliminate confusion. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
  • Just to eliminate any confusion ... from my experience automatic update has NEVER worked!

However, it is really great to see some interaction at last regarding Express with Garmin Support. I hope it is beneficial for users and Support.

It isn't a disconnect in the user experience... It is a complete absence of any supporting documentation.

Express also appears to behave differently for different devices : activities from the 610 are cached (and kept) upon transfer to Connect, for the fēnix and 110 they aren't (although the implicit suggestion is that the same behaviour should apply to all devices managed via Express).

Agree that it's good you are engaging here, but I'm sure glad you're not running the fire department - you'd be great to have around the day after an emergency ;)
