SD card not seen in Express

I added an 8 GB SD card but Garmin Express does no give me an option that includes all US and Canada. Software is all showing up to date. NUVI 550. The base memory shows about 900 MB free with Canada and border states loaded. The 8 GB card shows empty. Any ideas?
