2013 Nuvi 2460LMT not display roads then map won't load
Sansdisk Ultra 32Gb memory card; software version 3.60; used with eco dongle. Using Garmin express on a Windows 11 laptop and a cable that has always worked before
A few weeks ago I noticed that the map display showed no roads, only motorways, railways and the vehicle symbol. Switching off and playing around with settings had no effect.
I loaded a software update and loaded the latest map. All seemingly went well but the issue remained.
My then approach of 'leave it and it'll go away' didn't work so I tried reloading the latest map, City Navigator Europe 2027.20, using the same laptop and cable. Alas, each time I've tried the process starts normally, gets as far as 'Step 3 of 3: Updating Maps 50% complete Preparing Time Remaining: 1 hour, 36 minutes', gets no further until eventually giving a 'failed to load' message.
Checking the MyMap setting shows no map listed, which I presume means the reload erased the existing map.
Although my primary sat nav is now Google Maps on my phone I'd hate to lose the Nuvi as I still use it to see the lie of roads ahead and display eco dongle information (more for the gauge function and a record of mileages and fuel consumption than navigating, but, hey, that's all good). I also hard-wired it in and modified the case to prettify it and make it unsellable to deter thieves. I'd hate to replace it.
Can someone please give me advice on what to do next?
