glances keep changing order on a watch costing hundreds in version TWENTY-SIX of the firmware

There has been historically issues with *Garmin Express* rearranging things on syncing (it does have this explicit facility but sometimes it's got a mind of its own, and there might some interaction between Express and Connect). A couple of recent updates claim to have addressed it. I've experienced this issue in the past but not very recently. 

GE release notes:

Garmin Express v7.28.1 is available for PC today. If you would like to update to the latest version, please visit “About” within the Settings of the Express application and select “Check for Updates to Express.” This version includes the following changes: 

• Addressed an issue with Edge x40 devices stuck in a boot loop state

I can confirm that this problem still exists with GE 7.28.1. If there are folder in glnaces those keep their respective position to each other but all glances w/ directly sit in the glances view will be mixed up and set to the first positions - meaning before the folders. 

Experienced that lately with a F7s on 15.77, a T7pro on 17.28 and an Enduro2 on 26.09. with the same result. So this not fixed either...

If you are still noticing that your glances after syncing with Express are moved, please update the thread stating if you are using a Mac or Windows computer!

In my case it is the Windows version of GE.

I had to update Garmin Express today to the latest version, and after syncing my watch my Glances were rearranged. I'm using Windows 10.

it is not just from Windows Express

my main computer was off for 12+ hours and after I powered on my Fenix7 this morning the glances were fine

after syncing with my tablet minutes after the watch was turned on for the first time that morning, the glances changed order before my Run

this is INSANELY ANNOYING

setting Glance order on the watch should be AUTHORITATIVE

there should be no changes done by app/glance updates via Connect or Express

and it's not just third party Glances that are changing position

things like sunrise/sunset which is internal gets reset to the top sometimes

Thanks for pointing this out since it reminded me to be more precise: For me it was just the CIQ glances since only have CIQ glances like battery, hydration counter and Tempe widgets loacted directly in the glances menu with all native widgets being organized in folders. ISince you reminded it I will add an native widget outside a folder before I test and make the pictures Garmin - CF asked for.

THIS reminds me that I also saw unwanted glances like stock options and the like (it were 4 or 5 of them) added when I was forced to connect to GC lately because of this new thing forced upon us:  FYI: CIQ apps installed in 2026 will stop working if unit is not connected to GC > 39days 

Garmin - CF : I will provide the information you requested but ofc. I have to do that with the only system I have on 26.09 which is a test unit; since all information from a device not on current software will receive the same answer it always did in the last two years. This unit on 26.09 I use for testing purposes only at the moment with no daily use and hence it doesn't eat up much battery. So a charge will be not needed in the next two or three weeks. FYKI: I always do full battery cycles before I hook up (maybe this being the reason I never observed any battery problems so far).

To be earnest: I don't understand, why it shouldn't be possible to do the verification of those problems in support. This for one is easy to reproduce. In the good old times - which lay just 3 years in the past - your outstanding colleague Chris used to investigate the problems reported here by himself with his test units and most of the times he was able to confirm the problems I described to him really quick. All he would do after that diagnostics is asking for serial numbers, name and registration address fromm all affected to add those to the case. There was no need to do diag for each and everyone who observed the same problem he confirmed already. After that almost all of the problems were fixed in the next, or sometimes the very next release. On very special occasions it was even possible to get some miraculous hotfix loaded onto the offending device between releases.

Alas: long gone are these times. And people who have problems and remember those times are not really happy campers anymore... 

Circling back to this thread, with the new reports I am sending out emails to gather additional info. Please double-check that you received this!
