Drivesmart55 update over wifi

I had a guestion before on updating Drivesmart 55 with Garmin Express which was ruled as a no-go, so I tried to connect it to wifi. I get a wifi connection, but update immediately failss with unable to connect to the update server. What do I miss? Other devices (Android smartphone, old Blackberry smartphone, notebook) using the wifi just work... Is there any way to troubleshoot? Do I need to set up some account? Thanks in advance!

The “no-go” situation; how was that being attempted? A cable to PC? Although wifi should work, note that the device has to be plugged into a power source while the connection is made to wifi. That is because of the duration of the update relative to how long the device will operate off battery. See step 5 at DS 55 WiFi update

Yes a conventional cable to a Windows system running Garmin Express that was used to update the vintage nuvi1490 and newer Drivesmart 65. I do have a (locked) thread on the "no go" with the Drivesmart 55. forums.garmin.com/.../drivesmart55-update-in-garminexpress

As for the wifi, yes, as a computer guy, I understand I don't want to have the device switch off during an update because of no juice in the battery, when I operate it standalone, I use a powerbank that can feed it for hours.

Make sure that Selective Suspend is disabled on the USB port you are using. Selective Suspend

Hummm... I don't think I have anything like that enabled... It would also break the operations of the older Garmins which work flawlessly, right?

It is enabled by default on Windows 11. In Windows 10, as best I recall, it was enabled but only applied to a laptop while on battery. That of course helped on battery life.
