CN North America 2027.10 now available

Map update available on Garmin Express. I updated 6 units and had to keep clicking install now 2 or 3 times on each unit then it installed ok. Then when clicking install to computer and it started activating maps for a couple of seconds it would get an error message installing update. Kept clicking install to computer several times until finally the windows installer appeared. This happened on both my windows 11 laptop and windows 10 desktop. I am using latest version for express 7.28.0. Anyway all 6 are loaded with 2027.10.

  • I only did two devices (nuvi 265 and nuvi 2689) and had no issues.  That being said, I always right click my GE shortcut and select run as administrator.

This doesn't work for me when installing a map to my PC.  It is not necessary when updating the map on device my zumo XT but if I do it when installing the map to the PC the map gets installed unlocked for the Admin PC user but locked for me, the logged in user (a user with standard privileges).  I must first elevate my user privileges to administrator then do the map installation to PC, the change my user privileges back to standard.  Garmin installs the map so that it is usable by the credentialed user (administrator) but not for the logged in users.  This has been going on for years and is only a problem for folks like me who chose to not operated their PC logged in as a user with administrator privileges.  Garmin needs to get their heads out of the butt and be attentive to the logged in user, or prompt for which PC user will be using the map and install accordingly, unlocked!

  • It seems inconsistent. I was able to install 2027.1 to a couple of BMW Nav V and VI and a nuvi but it failed with a zumo XT. Express tells me the XT is up to date at 2026.30. Same issue on 3 different PC, all running win 11 Pro with the latest updates.

  • zumo XT. Express tells me the XT is up to date at 2026.30.

Same problem here, however, I was able to get the 2027.1 map installed on the XT from the XT itself (wifi installation). Once installed on the XT, no problem with installing the map on my PC using express.

Similar issue with my RV 895 gps, the map update was offered with express, however, clicking 'install' did not do anything.  Again, installing the map using the device wifi capability resolved my issue.

  • After updating to 2027.10 I have noticed several restaurants in the wrong location.  My last update was 2024.1. The Steak n Cake restaurant in Blythe CA was correct in the previous version is a mile in the wrong location on the latest map. In the housing tract next to my house there are a couple chain restaurants on the map that are not there. Also correct on the previous version. Seeing this many errors in my first week after updating I am concerned the problem is systemic. Is anyone else witnessing similar errors?

  • As far as I am concerned, POI accuracy has been terrible for all of the years (5 ish) I have been using a Garmin GPS.  I always verify the location of any that I add to routes when planning in Basecamp, but also always have Google Maps open as a secondary resource for locating food and fuel.  When on the road, I have attempted to use the up ahead and search features of my XT but have too often been routed to a long-closed or non-existent facility.  A couple of years ago I was routed on a road that was in the early stages of grading yet the map showed it complete.  We don't have much choice but to rely on them for navigation when not pre-planning, but Google Maps via phone is my friend when it comes to anything else.

  • It could be dependent on what units you have and if they are still capable of receiving the map updates. If they are older units they may have reached their limitations to install additional map updates.

If you are getting a specific message when the update fails, can you please provide a video or screenshot of what that message says?

  • One thing with the example you are using, Steak n Cake Restaurant i Blythe CA.  I noted on my Garmin I have to input Hobsonway then I can chose E. or W. which are about 2.4 miles apart.  So make sure you are making the right choice; E. for East.

  • Interesting you are getting two choices. For me there is only one that is no longer in the correct location. It is now 1.3 miles to the east. In both cases we are seeing a location that doesn't exist. Are you looking at 2027.10? If so we should be seeing the same data.

This is a timely comment because I buddy and I were on a ride today, him with a Nav VI, me with an XT.  We were manually navigating back to the route when he turned right on a road that did not exist on my XT.  I am confident that we are using the same map (unconfirmed yet though) but regardless, the road was obviously old so should have been on many versions of the map.  The question then becomes whether one device can display a map differently from another.  I'm not looking for an answer, I'm just here to report this experience.
