Hello, the Garmin Express (updated, of course) no longer sees any newer maps for 1490LMT. For Drive60, it reports 2026.20.
Has 1490(LMT) been discontinued?
Cheers,
Martin

Yes, it's an old model. Also it uses the old style of EU maps, which are now no longer available as an update.
Ah, allright, so much for the Lifetime Map updates then... Although I do understand that there aren't many of us left, so it would not be economical to keep the bargain at all costs.
Too bad the device or Garmin Express doesn't state this clearly. I also couldn't find anything official about final discontinuation of nuvi 1490 LM(T), in the lists of discontinued models.
But it was nice 14 years. Most probably I will just use my smartphone now.
Thanks for all the fish! :-)
Nevertheless I do have a question still... Does USA maps still use the old format? They're new for 1490 according to this page. Just wondering....

US maps always used NT and still do, it's just the EU ones that are now NTU. Garmin's lifetime maps always allowed for this in their terms and conditions, see https://www.garmin.com/en-GB/details/
You can of course continue to use your 1490 with the installed map or look at installing 3rd party maps.
Ok, thanks for clearing that up, for a normie user the map formats aren't obvious, it was just numbers that were basically the same between the nuvi 1490 new US maps and Drive 60 new EU maps (I don't own the Drive 60, just do the maintenance on it).
Yea I could use the last set of maps, but they're increasingly getting long in the tooth; driving "through the fields" is fun enough only if one knows an update arrives one day not far in the future. :-)
