Hello
HUGE PROBLEM WITH UPDATES (watch or Garmin Express?)
I don't know if it's related to an update to my Epix watch or Garmin Express, but it suddenly lost all my activities, as well as all my watch face and watch app settings (which are paid).
It happened once: no more settings for my activities (and I have about ten activities for which I had configured many screens, including purchased apps: EVERYTHING lost), or for my watch faces (the standard ones and some purchased ones).
I patiently redid everything manually. It took me 3 hours to get everything back to normal. Then, from the watch, I made a manual backup. I even made several on different days.
And today, I connected it to the PC and Garmin Express, and again, EVERYTHING lost!!! No more configured activities (no more favorites) and no more data fields screen (apps installed on the watch).
It's just unbearable.
So, from the watch, I tried to recover a backup. But from the watch, there's no option to recover a backup, only to create one.
So, I looked on Garmin Express and found a backup. But only one backup and not the most recent one, even though I'm 100% sure I've created several backups from the watch. Where are the other backups? Why don't they appear in the list?
So, I tried restoring the only available backup.
The process went smoothly.
But the result is super IMPERFECT:
- I found my favorite apps again; the Garmin screen settings seem to have been correctly restored. Phew, that's something. But not everything has been restored; for example, the custom activity color has been reset to the default color.
- However, all the data field settings have been lost!! I'll have to redo everything with Connect IQ on my phone: at least an hour of work because I have precise settings.
- No more custom watch faces, and the watch faces I purchased and finely configured have simply been uninstalled from the watch!! I'll have to reinstall them with Connect IQ and reset everything.
- And I noticed that some of the Eprix watch settings themselves also need to be redone.
3 questions:
1. Is this a known bug? I've been using my watch for 2 years and this is the first time this has happened. So it's related to one of the recent updates. Any solutions soon?
2. Why are my watch backups disappearing, but only one appears in the backups to be restored?
3. When Garmin improves the restore process so that ALL watch settings are restored, as well as ALL THIRD-PARTY WATCH SCREEN SETTINGS AND DATA FIELDS.
I'll patiently reset my watch settings, both on the watch and on Connect IQ :-(
