Garmin Express on Windows 10 not finding music on Fenix 6 Pro

I had successfully transferred music to my Fenix 6 Pro using Garmin Express on Windows 10.   When I reconnected the watch to my PC and used Garmin Express to try to add more music to the watch, Garmin Express stayed for over an hour at "Checking ..." from the capacity graph at the bottom of the screen before I cancelled it out and would not see any of the existing files on the watch nor allow me to add any new ones.  I've tried updating Garmin Express to the latest version, running Garmin Express as an admin, refreshing the library from within Garmin Express, and restarting the watch and computer.  The music is visible on the watch and plays from the watch and the files are visible from Windows Explorer when I connect the watch to the PC. So it appears to be an issue with Garmin Express, which is why I am posting the question here.   Does anyone have any suggestions for troubleshooting or fixing the issue so that I can manage the music on my watch?

  • i have same problem with fenix 7X SS. I had changed my windows machine and installed garmin express and reconnected the watch and since then playlists are on watch but not shown in garmin express. any luck with finding resolution?

  • Sorry, no updates on this.  For me the Garmin Express synchronization mechanism is almost completely unusable with the Fenix 6  for music.  I'm tired of doing factory resets just to get my watch working again after trying to synchronize music.  I'm very disappointed to hear that they never acknowledged the problem and that the 7 line seems to have inherited it as well.  I'm guessing what they really need is an engineering rewrite of Garmin Express so it handles the Fenix file system errors better.
