Damaged sd card slot

The SD card slot on my Garmin Nuvi 2689 no longer engages the sd card. It won't click in no matter how far in I push it.  I have tried different cards and have successfully installed the cards in different devices. Is there some way for me to install the update from my computer using Garmin Mapinstall?. Mapinstall, sees the Nuvi 2689 and the updated maps that I have downloaded to the computer using Garmin Express. I just don't have a funtioning SD card slot.

    I have a 2689 (USA located) and at least at present my microSD card is needed for a portion of my map.  I don't know your location but it is conceivable you to need the added space of the card.  Have you made any attempts to clean the slot with compressed air?  Maybe retain it in position with some form of tape, insure the 2689 works properly and if so add a dab of black caulk to hold it in place?  Longshot but try the suggestion at slot fix  If you get it working properly, you likely aren't going to need to remove it.

    Thanks, tried all those...no luck. Is there any way to delete old version on the 2689 and install new map from Mapinstall???
