Hallo in die Runde der Fachleute! Ich habe ein Navi "nüvi 2597" hier und krieg grad die Krise. Beim letzten Nutzen kam direkt nach dem Einschalten "Update einspielen!"
Also wollte ich das heute endlich mal machen (Navi wollte nämlich konsequent eine Route fahren, die seit Monaten und auch in den kommenden Monaten wegen umfangreicher Bauarbeiten nicht befahrbar ist und man alternativ in der Nähe auch nicht "nach links" einbiegen kann).
Danke für die Hinweise, dass man den Virenschutz temporär deaktivieren soll und Garmi komplett erstmal vom PC entfernen und dann neu aufspielen muss - aber leider hilft mir das bei meinem Windows 11 (aktuell) nicht weiter. Garmin startet das Update zwar mit guter Downloadgeschwindigkeit, drosselt aber beginnend ab ca 31% bis auf nur noch 350 BYTE (!) runter und die Dauer wird immer länger. Bei 71% und angewachsenen "noch 6 Stunden" hab ich abgebrochen und eben anders versucht.
Bin kein Vodafone-Kunde und das Internet lädt anderweitig wirklich schnell runter.
Ich habe jetzt bei Garmin beauftragt "Karten laden auf PC" statt auf das Navi per Kabel - und mir wird angezeigt "Dauer ca 30 Minuten" - es rattert grad runter auf "noch 15 Minuten". Alte gewohnte Schnelligkeit also.
Beim nüvi wiederum wurde als Grundbedingung das Einlegen einer Speicherkarte verlangt - hab ich getan gehabt. 2 Karten lehnte die Software gleich ab, die dritte bekam mehrmals eine Fehlermeldung (Samsung Ultra 32GB) - war alles auch frisch formatiert ... und beim letzten Neustart kam zuerst "Karten sind auf dem neuesten Stand" und als ich "nochmals Update starten" klickte kam die Fehlermeldung "Fehler". Was auch immer ...
Also - die eigentliche Frage ist: wenn ich das aktuellste Kartenmaterial jetzt lokal auf dem PC habe - wie bekomme ich das von dort rüber auf das nüvi? Falls es am USB-Port liegen sollte oder am Kabel --- ich habe kein anderes Kabel verfügbar mit diesem "besonders schönen" (Sarkasmus aus!) Stecker. Hier schrieb jemand etwas von Bluetooth --- wie geht das?
Oder geht sowas nur bei neueren Modellen und ist dieses "Sie brauchen eine Update" gefolgt von nicht machbarem Update eigentlich mehr die Aufforderung "Kauf ein neues Gerät"???

Hello to all the experts! I have a "nüvi 2597" navigation system here and I'm having a crisis. The last time I used it, it said "Install update!" immediately after turning it on.
So I finally wanted to do it today (the navigation system consistently wanted to take a route that hasn't been accessible for months and will continue to be closed for the coming months due to extensive construction work, and there's no alternative way to turn left nearby).
Thanks for the tip about temporarily disabling virus protection and completely removing Garmin from my PC and then reinstalling it – but unfortunately, that doesn't help with my (current) Windows 11. Garmin starts the update with a good download speed, but it throttles down from around 31% to just 350 bytes (!), and the download time gets longer and longer. At 71% and the "6 hours left" increase, I stopped and tried something else.
I'm not a Vodafone customer, and the internet downloads really quickly elsewhere.
I've now asked Garmin to "load maps to PC" instead of to the navigation system via cable - and it tells me "Takes approximately 30 minutes" - it's currently rattling down to "15 minutes remaining." So, it's back to its usual speed.
The nüvi, on the other hand, required inserting a memory card as a prerequisite - which I did. The software rejected two cards immediately, and the third received error messages several times (Samsung Ultra 32GB) - even though everything was freshly formatted... and on the last restart, the first message that appeared was "Maps are up to date," and when I clicked "Start update again," the error message "Error" appeared. Whatever...
So - the real question is: if I now have the latest maps locally on my PC - how do I get them from there to the nüvi? If it's the USB port or the cable --- I don't have any other cable available with this "particularly nice" (sarcasm off!) connector. Someone here wrote something about Bluetooth—how does it work?
Or does this only work on newer models, and is this "You need an update" followed by an unavailable update actually more of a request to "buy a new device"?
