Garmin linux and unix support.

Dear Garmin programmers.

Garmin is making a big mistake by underestimating Linux and Unix operating systems.
These are the best and most stable servers in the world, their presence is not noticeable to the average user, because they mostly work well. (We only notice a football referee on the field when he does something stupid.)
I use the Golden Cheetah linux Appimage application to view and evaluate the fitness data of my Garmin watch, because the respected Garmin company does not support the operating systems that are beneficial to me.
I am forced to use Windows 11 to update my Garmin watch, because Garmin Express does not run on Linux and Unix, and there is no alternative. That is why I installed a virtual Windows 11 on my PC.
Think about what I have written, because the competition does not sleep, but acts.

All the best.

  • As you indicated Linux and Unix are not commonly known about or used by the average person, so it makes sense for Garmin, or any other company, not to spend money supporting those areas.

I was a programmer for many years, and when I retired I saw no need to continue using Linux in my everyday needs If you feel you have to have Linux or Unix then you have made a choice to fill in the gaps to use systmes that are more common in the world today, as you have managed to do.

Sorry but, that;s the way things work. And BTW this is a user-to-user forum and Garmin hardly ever responds here, especially about sugguestions.

  • Afraid it I what it is, but you can always try posting here https://www.garmin.com/en-US/forms/ideas/
