1340LMT Map Update

After logging into Garmin Express with my Nuvi 1340LMT,updated software and maps as highlighted by Express,I now have "Cant Unlock Maps" & "No Detailed Maps found that support routing>The nuvi cannot be used without them".

The device has maps for life.

The software update appeared to have been ok.

I have read several stories on  forums of this happening to others with older devices.I have tried ALL of the suggested remedies and there has been ZERO success.

I dont get any option to install a SD card even though there is only 228mb memory remaining on the device.

It also appears I dont have the option to install to device only or device and computer ,only to the computer.

Express says the update is complete, but nothing appears on my device.Clearly something is amiss with the update protocol??

I did install a fully formatted, brand new 16gb memory card(FAT32) which my windows 11 does recognise.Alas no success.

I now have a non functional sat nav .

I am not a "techy" person,I have followed all the Garmin Support recommendations without any success.

I have removed, reinstalled Garmin Express several times in an attempt to sort the problem.

Does anyone have any further suggestions on attempting to rectify this please?

  • It's unclear what you've already done to resolve this as you just state you've tried 'everything'. However assuming you have tried 'everything' your last resort is to try the cloning method explained here

  • Its with reference to all the possible ways of getting the device to work.

I have followed instructions from the Garmin UK support site for the errors I have with the device that so far have not worked.

I have read forum discussions that have similar issues and tried to follow what was done to sort the issue.

    Nothing has worked.

I am going to  take the device to Garmin ( Europe) which is not too far from where I live and ask kindly if they can assist as I dont feel confident in carrying out the "cloning" method in the link provided. As I previously said,i am not very well versed with technology.

  • Then it's possible as it's such an old device it's faulty. I'll close this thread but good luck with Garmin Europe.
